Ruth Newton's January Update

6th January 2011

Happy New Year to everyone!!

Over the last couple of months, I have been making the most of the prizes I won from star, and one of my most memorable ones was when I went to see the Rocky Horror Show at Sunderland Empire Theatre. It has to be said that I am possibly the Rocky Horror Shows number 1 fan, so I had already purchased tickets for the show. With the tickets from Star, I was lucky enough to go TWICE!!! (Any excuse to get dressed up and I am there!!) I had a fantastic time both nights, and sang and danced the whole way through! I was even told by a steward to “sit down please!!” after I was caught dancing in the aisle and supposedly being a fire hazard!!

My friend, Franca, was 21 in October, and to celebrate me and the girls had a night out in Darlington and went back to my appartment in Cockerton Green to continue the partying. The appartment is fantastic and is kitted out by Moderno Furnitue in Meadowfield. The stuff from Moderno is beautiful and really adds a homely touch to the place (especially my retro leather dog door stop, which the girls decided would be a good idea to take turns to sit on after our night out!! I think it’s safe to say we were a tad worse for wear at this point!)

Over Christmas, I have ate way too much and started the Christmas Festivities with a visit to The County in Newton Aycliffe. I took my cousin, Emily, and each course that came out we took joy in taking photos and sending to her partner Digger (who was stuck at home looking after Ethan, aged 2, and Effie, aged 1 month). On our return home, Digger insisted that I take him to the next sitting because the food looked so lovely! As they are moving down the country in 6 weeks time for Diggers job, I couldn’t really say no!!!

I also went to Nandos in Durham over Christmas, where I am entitled to 4 combo meals. The manager knows who I am now and each time I go in he always says “I wish this was me getting all this free food!” I always come out with bags full of food, so Jamie my boyfriend is always on hand to carry it for me. When your living like a star, you need someone to carry stuff for you right?!?!?

October / November update

14th December 2010

The 6 month mark has arrived, a little bit quick for my liking aswell!

It doesn't feel like two minutes ago that I won my fabulous prize and I can't imagine my life without getting lots of lovely freebies and being treat like a star.

The last month has been jam packed with prizes!  At the beginning of the month I got my hair cut in Toni & Guy at Durham by my stylist Charlene. She did a lovely job, as always, and I still feel guilty when I walk out with a new swish hair cut that I haven't paid for!

My hair cut was all in preparation for my photo shoot with Alan Clarke. I went to Hardwicke Park in Sedgefield for a life style shoot. Alan was very professional, however, as always, I had my stupid head on. I did manage to compose my self and in the end got some really great photos. Hopefully, my mam will put the finished product above the mantle piece.... just to keep the kids off it!! Joking aside, the photos were lovely and Alan did a really good job considering who it was he had to work with!

My partner Jamie has been home, as he works away in the RAF, so we have been taking full advantage of all the free food I get!! We went to The County in Newton Aycliffe, and enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal topped off with some country cider.

In the middle of the month, my cousin Emily was 26, so what better way to celebrate then go to the Spa?! We went to Broom Mill Day Spa in Ferryhill and had a facial and a three course meal. At 8 months pregnant, Emily had a brilliant time being pampered and just being able to relax without her little boy, Ethan, running a mock!

This month, we also waved goodbye to my brother, Stephen, who has jetted off to Australia for 6 month (lucky him!!). We had a bit of a party to wish him luck. To compliment my mam's buffet at the party, we brought down the £25 worth of takeaway food I get every two weeks from Kebab Grill in Darlington. The pizzas from there are the best I've EVER had, and not a scrap of them were left. Me and my friend Maz even stole a few slices before the party got started because we knew they wouldn't be on the table very long!

This weekend, I'm off out with the girls down Durham to take full advantage of my Loveshack card which allows me and 5 friends to get in for free with £20 worth of drinks waiting for us when we get in! It's safe to say, were normally a little bit wobbly by the time we come out of there.
