BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD

The Three Crowns
"Star Radio listeners voted in their droves for the Three Crowns. The traditional premises with a friendly atmosphere stood out for exceptional customer service. Comments received included that the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful... that nothing was too much trouble and a strong emphasis on responsible drinking was also noted making for an all round more enjoyable night out."

BEST TRADITIONAL PUB AWARD

The Railway Tavern
"The Railway Tavern is an independently owned traditional establishment with the emphasis being on the community. They are involved in numerous community focused events and raising money for charity. Assessors were impressed with their robust crime and disorder policy with a clear emphasis on responsible drinking and drunkenness. Staff are well trained and there is clear documentary evidence around duty of care towards patrons. There are thorough public security practices around fire safety and evacuation procedures with a clear responsibility and policy towards underage drinking. The Railway Tavern are also active participants in the Challenge 21 Scheme."

The Tapas Bar
"This Independently owned establishment encourages responsible drinking and has no drinks promotions. A thorough crime and disorder policy with the emphasis being on sensible drinking and customer safety and enjoyment. The Tapas Bar has comprehensive and well documented Supervisor and Management Training Modules that are fully endorsed and adhered to. The bar is heavily involved in the community, Chair of Pub Watch involved in the Town Centre Board and charity events. There is also a thorough public safety agenda, well trained first aiders and comprehensive glass collection policy. The Tapas Bar is an Active Challenge 21 participant."

"The Joseph Pease really does deserve this award. The experienced team have all worked hard to make the new look venue a must visit in Darlington’s town centre. A great atmosphere, service and music all make for an AWARD WINNING night out!"

The Hoskins
"The Hoskins was applauded for its thorough public safety policy with comprehensive facilities and training in places and risk assessments around the safety and wellbeing of it’s patrons. All staff had comprehensive training packages and were fully briefed in the companies crime and disorder policy. An effective drug policy with effective retention and disposal measures was in place and the staff were found to be well briefed and educated. The Hoskins is an active participant in the Challenge 21 Scheme."

Harveys
"At Harvey’s the Assessor’s found comprehensive crime and disorder policies with effective accident and incident logs. Their staff were fully briefed on current banned individuals and an effective drugs policy with comprehensive training packages and effective staff training records on drug awareness were evident. There is an effective overcrowding policy, with a layout designed to take into account hot spot areas. Harvey’s are active participants in the Challenge 21 Scheme."
