Health, Safety & Environmental Controller

The purpose of the role is to provide advice and to those with direct health, safety and environmental responsibilities within their job roles and to ensure compliance in all areas of health and safety legislation whilst reducing the risk of accidents to everyone on the site.
With guidance from the HSE Manager, be responsible for the maintenance of the Company’s Health and Safety Manual including documentation, training, auditing and reporting of the requirements placed on employees within it.
Ensure audits, systems policies and procedures are adhered to in order to meet business objectives, including Environmental requirements.
Co-ordinate all site health and safety management meetings as required and take responsibility for the generation and issuing of relevant documentation such as agenda, minutes etc. and progress actions through to completion.
To take a lead and example setting role, in the insistence upon compliance to identified safe working practices as identified in risk assessment activities.
Produce statistics for management on accidents across the site.
Identify and deliver Health and Safety related training as required.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers.
Oversee the Occupational Health Activities on site to ensure safe working practices, surveillance checks and statutory medicals are undertaken and advise on specific working practices or improvements required as a result of discomfort caused at work.
Support the HSE Manager to ensure that the Company is compliant with best practice but at a minimum with pertinent legislation and that this legislation is reflected in the Company’s Health and Safety Policy
Make use of continuance improvement practices such as visual management to improve safety and encourage compliance to wearing of PPE and safe working practices.
Co-ordination of a multi-disciplinary team, to ensure that all processes and plant have an associated risk assessment and the safe working procedures identified as a result are known and adhered to.
Maintain and further improve the accident frequency rates on the company.
Ensure all HSE reportable accidents are reported in the time scale specified under RIDDOR and collate and distribute accident and housekeeping statistics
Oversee all accident investigations and ensure appropriate conclusions are achieved.
Conduct EL and PL claim investigation and correspond with insurance brokers on all EL and PL claims made against the Company
Carry out induction and other specific safety training as well as Health, Safety and Welfare audits
Carry out and audit general risk, fire risk, COSHH and Manual Handling assessments
Monitor contractors whilst on site and ensure full compliance with current legislation
Provide assistance to other Tallent / Gestamp group members if required
Undertake and assist with new projects as notified by the HSE Manager.
